Stress and its effects are too often the cause of oral pain and dental health decline. Whether it's frequent "resting your head in hands" stress, ongoing discomfort or severe pain, your oral health could be at risk.

In February 2009, Time Magazine's online journal published an article, which observed that due to the many stressors in society many people have chosen to forego basic dental care. Minor dental conditions are turning into major problems, leaving these people with few options. These stress inducing factors include the economy, declining job markets, and unexpected lifestyle adjustments.

We welcome Linda Judd (L) and Cathy Trotter (R) as the newest Full-time team members to the Dental Specialty Group Family.

Even though both women have been with us for a while, we are frequently reminded of why we brought them onboard. The warmth, reliability and joy they bring to our office are greatly appreciated every day by team members and patients.

Our new DSG office Open House will be held Tuesday March 17, 2009. From the 10am community ribbon cutting event till 2pm, we will be serving light refreshments. We invite you to join us. 

While Dental Specialty Group has been serving the Cookeville area for over four years, late last year we purchased our own office. With our new office on East First Street, we are now able to provide our oral surgery services four days a week rather than only twice a month.

In two weeks we leave for Malawi. There are six of us who will be part of the team including four dental health professionals. We are thankful for all the support and the donors.

There are many things we hope to accomplish. However, our home base in Africa, a government clinic in Blantyre, Malawi, is in great need of supplies, personnel and equipment. While it is an exciting adventure for our team, the needs are substantial and the reality of what our patients are dealing with day to day keep our feet on the ground.

Dental Specialty Group recently opened their 2nd office in Cookeville, Tennessee at 310 E. First Street. In this new facility, they will provide specialists services such as reconstructive oral surgery, dental implant placement, and wisdom tooth removal.

DSG will work with general dentists in Cookeville, Algood, Baxter, Monterey and Putnam County. General dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, prosthodontists, pediatric dentists and other specialists are encouraged to contact our office and make arrangements for providing patients with the level of care they need.

We had a great turnout for our first Spring Impressions dental event to thank everyone who has helped us throughout the year. Everyone ate well, laughed a lot, and learned more. Spring Impressions II 2009 cannot come soon enough.

Our hard working DSG team was honored and Nobel Biocare provided hands on training for those in attendance, which offered three dental CE credits. Our dental lab also supplied us with helpful information. Over 25 dentists attended and some team members as well.

During Dental Specialty Group's Spring Impressions 2008 event, Nashville oral surgeon, Dr. Howlett presented a slide show for the dentists and other guests in attendance. The presentation covered all the areas DSG has  developed a deep passion for over the last few years from advanced dental techology to local and global missions.
